2026 Mustang Filly

Briar Rose is our most unexpected and delightful surprise! While her father, Stark, was gelded under our care before his arrival at the sanctuary, he left us with a parting gift we didn't think was possible. We watched Juniper grow rounder and had our suspicions, then on the morning of April 20, 2026, our instincts were proven correct by a new set of legs in the field.

Her name carries the story of her very first hours. Seeking a peaceful spot away from the herd, Juniper led her newborn to a quiet corner of the farm where little Briar Rose managed to get herself tangled in a patch of briars. Fortunately, our dedicated volunteers were on-site to quickly step in, reuniting the adventurous filly with her mom.

This birth is a particularly special victory for Juniper. Last year, prior to her life here, Juniper tragically lost a foal because she was too malnourished to sustain him. Now that she is healthy, thriving, and safe in sanctuary, Briar Rose represents the resilience of the mustang spirit and the beautiful second chances we strive for every day.
