2007 Mustang Mare

Fallon was born on 12/20/07 in a BLM mustang holding facility. She was titled two years later, on 10/29/09, meaning she was adopted and we hope loved by someone at some point in her life.

She made her way to a kill lot in McLean, TX in June of 2026 with another mustang mare from the same home. The person who sold them said they were halter broke and both trained to ride.

Fallon and her friend were bailed by an unknown buyer in Idaho, but the buyer did not pay their full price, did not reimburse the pick up person for covering the rest, did not pay their quarantine board or the transporter for their trip.

To attempt to recover the money lost the transporter planned to sell the mares at the Bowie livestock auction. Thanks to some fast acting donors we were able to step in and offer them a home with us instead.

These mares are a prime example of why we urge people not to donate to individuals or unverified rescues simply because of an urgent SOS or threat of slaughter. Too often, these horses end up right back in the pipeline or starving in someone’s backyard, both scenarios we’ve personally rescued horses from.

Imagine the difference we could make if all those small donations went to established, legitimate rescues instead.
