Age Unknown, Mustang Mare

Juniper is a beautifully marked paint mare and a gentle, resilient member of Stark’s family band. Like the rest of her herd, she came from a devastating situation, part of an internet “rescue” from a kill lot that ended with the entire band abandoned at a quarantine facility without proper feed. By the time we found them, Juniper was severely emaciated and fighting to survive.

While abandoned there, Juniper gave birth to a foal we later named Ripley. Her body was too depleted to produce enough milk, and heartbreakingly, Ripley did not make it. It’s a loss no mare should ever have to endure.

For months, we ensured the band was fed and checked on while searching for placement options. When none were available, we brought them to our South location, where they now have a permanent home and a future free from neglect.

Juniper carries herself with thoughtful quietness, staying close to the mares she trusts. As she settles in, we’re beginning to see small signs of healing, moments where she softens, shows curiosity, and finally begins to feel safe.

Here, Juniper will never be alone again. She is home, cherished, and given the time and compassion she needs to rebuild.
