Molly

Senior Belgian Draft Mare

Molly is the first horse welcomed into our Draft Rescue Initiative, made possible by an incredibly generous donor who is passionate about helping draft horses. Whether displaced by age, injury, declining health, or an inability to continue working, these are the horses who too often find themselves without options and with nowhere left to go.

Our mission has never been to rescue horses based on what they might offer someone else. We believe the horses most deserving of lifelong sanctuary are often those with the fewest prospects of being rehomed. Their value has never been dependent on their ability to work, perform, or serve a purpose for people.

Molly is a perfect example, not advertised online she was a direct ship horse headed to Canada on the next truck. An industry insider who knew we were establishing this initiative reached out, knowing Molly needed someone to step in before it was too late.

Her body tells the story of many years of hard work. She has significant spinal compression and the physical wear and tear of what appears to have been a lifetime of labor. Despite her hardships, her heart is every bit as big as her body. Molly is incredibly gentle and sweet, especially with the two-year-old toddler who calls this farm home and is completely enamored with her.

Molly will never have to work another day in her life. She doesn't need to earn her keep or prove she's worth saving. She's home.
