Reign

2015 Mustang Mare

Reign has been a name on our waitlist for over a year and we are so grateful to her owners for their incredible patience in waiting for the perfect sanctuary home to open up.

Reign is undeniably gorgeous, a quality that, sadly, often puts horses like her at risk. We frequently see "beautiful" horses overlooked for their physical limitations, with people attempting to ride them despite the pain it causes (much like our resident, Eden). In Reign’s case, she suffers from severe arthritis in her neck. Per veterinary advice, riding will never be a humane option for her.

Beyond her physical needs, Reign is a sensitive soul who experiences significant anxiety when her herd mates are taken away to be ridden. She has never been one to seek out or enjoy much human interaction, preferring the company and quiet of the herd.

At Project ComeBack, we receive multiple calls a week to take in surrenders, and cases like Reign’s are exactly why we do what we do. Our mission is to provide her with a safe, permanent haven where she will never be asked to do something that causes her pain, and where she is free to choose exactly how much interaction she wants. Here, Reign can simply be; beautiful, retired, and respected.

Reign is partially sponsored by Mallory and Tyler Cairnes.
