Stark
Age Unknown, Mustang Gelding
Stark is one of the newest members of our farm, a once-wild stallion and the devoted leader of a family band of six. When we first learned of Stark and his herd, they were in dire condition: extremely emaciated, malnourished, and surviving against the odds. They had been part of an online “rescue” from a kill lot, but after being marked “safe,” they were passed around from place to place before being abandoned at a quarantine facility where they were not being fed.
When we found them in that state, Stark was still an intact stallion, doing everything he could to protect his family despite his own exhaustion. Before coming to our farm, he was safely gelded to support his long-term health and wellbeing. For months, we paid to have the entire family fed and checked on while we searched tirelessly for other placement options. Ultimately, when no safe alternatives existed, we brought them to our South location where they now have a permanent home.
Stark has not yet consented to touch, and we honor that wholeheartedly. His boundaries reflect the life he’s lived and the weight he’s carried. Here, he has the space, time, and autonomy to rediscover safety at his own pace. We’re already beginning to see glimpses of who he is beneath the survival mode he lived in for so long, a thoughtful, attentive leader learning that the world can finally be gentle..
Stark currently has no sponsors.
